Pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson made her debut as conservative guest host on The View today, but fans were almost entirely non-plussed by her grand entrance to the talk show. Stepping into Meghan McCain‘s empty conservative seat, the Republican commentator discussed hot topics like the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict, declining birth rates across the U.S., and more. As Anderson had tense debates with a handful of the hosts, The View audiences took to social media to denounce the possibility of her staying on as permanent host.
First on the docket was the Rittenhouse verdict. After the co-hosts debated over whether it was a cut-and-dry case or a bit more up in the air, Anderson came out with a controversial statement about Rittenhouse’s upcoming interview with Tucker Carlson.
“Wouldn’t it be a really interesting twist of all of this — we saw Kyle Rittenhouse going on Tucker Carlson, he’s going on his show tonight,” Anderson said. “The clip that’s come out is him saying, ‘I support Black Lives Matter.’ Wouldn’t it be a really interesting twist if Kyle Rittenhouse comes out of all of this, and instead of becoming a cause celeb of the right wing, he comes out and says, ‘I’ve been in the justice system now. I have been someone who was a defendant in a court room, and I believe Black Lives Matter and I want to support criminal justice reform.’”
The View audiences were having none of Anderson’s argument, however, stepping in to shut her down on Twitter. “No one believes Rittenhouse is going to advance the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement,” one user shared. “Not even you. I was settled in & ready to give you a chance AND you blew it in the first five minutes.”
Kristen – PAH-LEASE!! No one believes Rittenhouse is going to advance the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement – not even you. I was settled in & ready to give you a chance AND you blew it in the first five minutes. @TheView Next please. https://t.co/wgxk39LN0l

So, this Kirsten (sp) chick thinks it’s “interesting” that Kyle Rittenhouse could “become the face of criminal Justice reform” because he “supports BLM” So glad Joy and Sunny shut that airheaded notion down. #TheView pic.twitter.com/3TvFphHO5c

After the Rittenhouse discussion, the ladies moved on to discuss declining birth rates in the U.S. Sunny Hostin, who previously teamed up with Joy Behar to take Anderson down after her Rittenhouse statements, grilled the guest host about the Republican Party’s commitment to “family values. While Anderson attempted to make her case, The View audiences still weren’t having her answers.
“Joy Behar & Sunny Hostin gathering Kristin Soltis Anderson like nobody’s business,” one user tweeted, with others lamenting the recent cycle of guest co-hosts.

So this Republican guest is basically saying child care workers shouldn’t make anything for caring for their bad ass kids? Child care is a tough business and workers deserves to be paid. #TheView

We’ll see Anderson return as a guest co-host for tomorrow’s (Nov. 23) taping of The View, but as far as we know, she won’t return after that. That is, of course, unless she’s hired as the permanent host. After Anderson departs, this Wednesday (Nov. 24), The View will celebrate Thanksgiving followed by a quick two-episode break from live shows for the holiday weekend.
The View airs weekdays on ABC at 11/10c.
